Happy New Year!
Wow... where did the time go?!? I launched Bosom Boutique on July 20, 2022, with the tagline “Embrace Your Self.” The intent was to encourage breast cancer patients, because whether treatment leaves visible scars or not, one is forever changed. And to remind everyone to embrace yourself as you are.
Six months have passed, and I have decided that my 2023 Word of the Year will be: EMBRACE. In some ways, this narrows the intent of my tagline; in others, it is expanded. Embrace is a verb, from Anglo-French, a derivative of brace “the two arms.” Here are a few definitions:
- to take or clasp in the arms; press to the bosom; hug.
- to take or receive gladly or eagerly; accept willingly: to embrace an idea.
- to avail oneself of: to embrace an opportunity.
This year, I will:
- Embrace breast cancer patients and survivors and support them through my Pestemals with Purpose mission.
- Continue to “Embrace My Self” and accept the internal and external scars, the side-effects of continuing treatments, and the possibility of recurrence.
- Embrace all opportunities to share my purpose and personal story. Here’s to 2023 and all it brings.
